The European Group for Public Administration (EGPA) has received nearly 900 submissions for its 2026 Annual Conference, to be held at Sapienza Università di Roma in Rome from August 24 to 27, 2026.
This strong level of interest builds on the record-breaking success of the 2025 conference in Glasgow, which marked EGPA’s 50th anniversary and its largest edition to date. The 2026 conference is expected to continue this upward trajectory, with participation potentially reaching new record levels.
Once again, EGPA confirms its role as a leading scholarly network in public administration in Europe, bringing together researchers and practitioners from across the globe to exchange ideas and advance the field.
This milestone reflects the sustained engagement and commitment of the EGPA community, whose contributions continue to strengthen both the network and its close ties with the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS).
In the coming weeks, participants will be notified of submission outcomes at the end of April, followed by the opening of registrations in early May, including for the PhD Symposium. Early-career scholars will also have the opportunity to apply for travel support in May, while final paper submissions and registration will take place in the lead-up to the conference in July.
As EGPA builds on this momentum, the 2026 conference in Rome is poised to further expand its reach, strengthening exchanges across its growing international community. Registrations will open in May and will be accessible not only to authors of accepted submissions, but also to participants who wish to attend the conference without presenting a paper. The International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) was pleased to welcome Professor Liu Hong, Director at the Nanyang Centre for Public Administration at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and Professor Shen Wei, from the School of Public Administration at Zhejiang University, to the IIAS office in Brussels on 5 June 2026.
The IIAS Director General, Dr. Sofiane Sahraoui, and Secretariat bid farewell to Herbert Baumgartner and Manuela Ernst, from the Austrian Court of Audit, who have served as external auditors of the Institute.
The International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) is inviting proposals from experienced service providers to manage the production of the French-language edition of the International Review of Administrative Sciences (IRAS), the Revue Internationale des Sciences Administratives (RISA).
